Powder and Ink Roxie Womens History MonthThroughout the month of March, the CAN BE Innovation Center is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month by highlighting its female clients. In this short Q&A, we sat down with one of our incubator tenants, Roxie Scalise from Powder & Ink Permanent Cosmetics and Tattoo Studio, to reflect on her journey and what it means to be a female entrepreneur.

For those who might not know your story, tell us who you are, what your business is, and why you became an entrepreneur.

Hi, My name is Roxie and I own Powder & Ink Permanent Cosmetics and Tattoo Studio. I became an entrepreneur to have freedom to pursue my passion. At the time, the Hazleton area didn't have any permanent makeup artists and I wanted to build that into our community.

In what ways do you think being a female entrepreneur has influenced your approach to business?

To me, being a female entrepreneur means leading my business with heart and passion. During each session, I try to show my clients what makes them unique and special. This is much more important to me than just looking for a paycheck.

Powder and Ink RoxieWhat advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs just starting out?

The advice I would give aspiring female entrepreneurs is to go for it! Never stop learning and you'll never let yourself fail.

Can you recommend another local female business leader you shop with, look up to, or would like to promote?
